Unlike the standard all-glass dip pens, this one's body is actually narrow enough to properly dip into a Goulet sample vial, and is thus *so*, so much nicer for making ink swatches with.
Plus, I can feel relatively safe storing it with the cap on, as opposed to the "putting it back in the foam-lined box" that seems necessary for the all-glass one.
I was in Orlando at the Stationery Festival looking to get started with fountain pens when I found myself at the Stationer's Emporium table being handed this dipping pen to try. The feel of woodgrain felt both premium and comfortable in the hand, and the glass tip made writing feel more akin to inscribing silk. The representative Savannah was both kind and informative, and within a few minutes I was on the site ordering my own.
About a week later, I had no complaints and all joy having my own in hand with a few ink samples. The package includes a bit of sandpaper for reshaping the nib to suit one's writing style requirements. One good dip of ink lasts plenty of lines, and excess ink cleans off flawlessly, even if it's already a little dry. I couldn't be happier with this pen, and I can't wait to explore ink swatching on top of calligraphy.
Oh, this is a beautiful pen. I love the craftsmanship and that the glass part has a cover for protection. I used my first dip pen ink with this and it was such a beautiful experience. Love it!
